Spare the defenseless

Having a political ideology is agreeable in this democratic country, but forcing that upon poor, defenseless, vulnerable janta, through means not accepted by the law is not appreciable.

This sentence says it all. Any political party is entitled to have its political views and ideologies. It need not be acceptable by other political parties. We name this democracy. The brawl is against the thought processes of parties which should be solved in a decent political manner and not by vandalizing common man’s life and property. However bending the law and stooping down to levels that terrorize innocent people is highly condemnable. I refer to the recent happenings in Mumbai where a group of fanatics and lunatics resorted to violent means there by distorting the peace and calm of the financial hub of the country. They lowered themselves to the level of irrational human beings just because their leader- who had instigated them to beat up students appearing for the railway exams- was arrested

And it is not just me who feels this so. As a matter of fact the constitution states that any citizen of the country can choose his work place in any part of the country. No one can stop anyone from working anywhere. What kind of leadership would persuade its followers to go against the law of the country?
For the past 5000 years the strength, gloss and sheen of the country has been the diversity in her culture. People, countries, religions came, ruled us but we stood strong, thanks to our deep rooted principles and beliefs. Despite the onslaught of cultural influences on our nation owing to globalization, the culture, the beliefs, the social etiquettes and the religious harmony of the people of our great motherland have remained intact. Such is the strength of our unity, be it religious, geographical, social or emotional. But now, some miscreants are making a ridiculous attempt to smudge values of our country and victimize our culture.
On the personal front too hindrances were created to deter me from conducting the ‘Chatt Puja’- a part of the north Indian culture despite me celebrating it every year where lakhs of North Indians gather to offer their prayers. What were we doing? Just offering our prayers to our deity. The constitution allows every citizen to pray anywhere in the country but nobody understood the fundamentals of our own constitution and people’s feelings.
I was glad that my office was targeted. At least I am in a position to defend myself from the ‘Goondagiri’ unlike the poor innocent common man who has come here just to earn a living and get a decent night’s meal.
I urge everybody not to bow down to what are the dying sparks of an unconstructive legacy as the Law shall triumph over the unjust acts.
I would love your point of view as well. Leave back your outlook towards what the city faced in the past few days.
Regards,
Sanjay Nirupam.

  2. I agree completely with your views. What kind of political ideology is this that threatens the unity of our country and divides it on regional lines. Anywhere else in the world, this would be treated as sedition, it is only in India that we allow rabble rousers to incite the sentiments of the public and react only when the situation gets out of hand. Shouldn't the person involved in this activity think what would happen if the rest of India started hounding Maharashtrians out and incite violence against them ... where will it lead to? This is insane.

  3. What country are v all living in? A country where law and order can be played with and violated by anyone and everyone? Pls ask Vilasrao Deshmukh and RR Patil to stop playing these dirty political games and fooling around people by doing all the drama of Raj Thackeray's arrest. V all know that everything is pre-planned. Yeh sab dramebaazi bandh karo. Media has also made Raj a hero by either publishing or telecasting news as cheap as what did Raj wore and eat in the jail. Did he smoke his favourite cigar? Did he sleep or not? Tell us frankly and honestly that our govt just do not have any guts to punish Raj. V wont feel bad bcoz v know that our govt and law and order is just good for nothing. A man who has harmed and disturbed the communal harmony in the state walks out free with people screaming Zindaabad after his name. Apalling, Dis-heartening, Ridiculous and Disgusting! Thats all i have to say.

  4. Yes, we all should support Raj Thackeray and take his initiative ahead by doing more...
We should teach our kids that if he is second in class, don't study harder..just beat up the student coming first and throw him out of the school. Parliament should have only Delhiites as it is located in Delhi. Prime-minister, president and all other leaders should only be from Delhi. No Hindi movie should be made in Bombay. Only Marathi. At every state border, buses, trains, flights should be stopped and staff changed to local men. All Maharashtrians working abroad or in other states should be sent back as they are SNATCHING employment from locals. Lord Shiv, Ganesha and Parvati should not be worshiped in our state as they
    belong to north (Himalayas)
Visits to Taj Mahal should be restricted to people from UP only
Relief for farmers in Maharashtra should not come from centre because that is the money collected as Tax from whole of India, so why should it be given to someone in Maharashtra? Let's support Kashmiri Militants because they are right in killing and injuring innocent people for the benefit of their state and community.. Let's throw all MNCs out of Maharashtra, why should they earn from us? We will
open our own Maharashtra Microsoft, MH Pepsi and MH Marutis of the world. Let's stop using cellphones, emails, TV, foreign Movies and dramas. James Bond should speak Marathi. We should be ready to die hungry or buy food at 10 times higher price but should not accept imports from other states. We should not allow any industry to be setup in Maharashtra because allmachinery comes from outside. We should STOP using local trains... Trains are not manufactured by Marathi manoos and Railway Minister is a Bihari Ensure that all our children are born, grow, live and die without ever stepping out of Maharasthra, then they will become true Marathis

  5. well said hiten, I wish all that you have said in your comment here could find a way into the general public and the aam aadami who is mislead by false promises, half truths and twisted facts by evil people like Raj Thakare (or most politicians, this with due apology to Sanjay Nirupam ji who seems to be an anomaly for a politician)and all others who talk of regional politics and try to divide the nation on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language or anyother excuse for a reason. The role of the media is also just as dubious. In their eagerness to make a scoop and to have the maximum viewership most TV news channels go way overboard and instead of practicing responsible journalism only incite the fears and emotions of the readers. If news channels had not been around would the matter have gained such momentum that the reverbrations of what happened in Maharashtra are being felt in Bihar and students going on rampage there?
Who is hurt in the end after such incidents? This is a question the perpetrators and the advertisers of these incidence should ask themselves. I am sure Raj Thakare and his followers think that he is a great hero but ask the people who have to pay for his words for them he is nothing but devil in disguise.

  6. I completely endorse the views and comments posted on this blog.

However, I am also curious to know about Raj Thackeray's point that why were the vacancies not posted in the local Marathi newspapers? His means to convey the message was wrong but his question is valid, IMHO.

    Laluji listening?

  7. The idea of Satyagraha is a noble one. Getting the poor, downtrodden to protest as a movement,is our contribution to the world.

However, violence has become the norm. No one sees any use in any form of protest unless it is accompanied by violence. So this violence has become symbolic of the protest.

It may be right to say that most politicians have carefully cultivated the art of violent protests. For others it has become
the norm. And therefore this movement to target innocent North Indians is merely an extension of the rule.

The ones being targetted must not cower. They must protest peacefully. Without breaking the law and order. That will be a challenge and will send the right message. To all North Indian and also to the few violent protestors.
